Engineering for startups & small teams

Ship it. Secure it.
Watch it scale.

Strixworx is a senior engineering partner for teams moving fast. We build on AWS, lock it down, and keep a sharp eye on it as you grow.

The Strixworx owl: a great grey owl drawn as a purple tile with pale brows, green eyes and folded wings

What we do

Three disciplines.
One set of eyes.

Most startups don't need separate contractors for security, infrastructure, and code. They need one partner who can see how the three connect, and where they're about to break.

01

Security

Find the gaps before someone else does.

  • AWS security reviews: IAM, network exposure, secrets, and logging
  • Compliance readiness for SOC 2 and HIPAA: controls, audit trails, and evidence
  • Threat modeling for new features and architectures
  • Hands-on remediation, not just a findings report
02

Cloud & IoT

AWS, built right the first time.

  • AWS architecture and infrastructure as code with CDK and CloudFormation
  • Serverless and Amplify applications
  • IoT Core device fleets: provisioning, MQTT, and OTA firmware pipelines
  • Reliability and cost tune-ups: alarms, logging, and right-sizing
03

Software

Product code that holds up in production.

  • Full-stack product builds in TypeScript, React, and Next.js
  • Device-to-cloud systems for connected hardware
  • Code and architecture reviews
  • Fractional tech lead for teams without a senior engineer

How we work

Start small.
Stay as long as it helps.

Every engagement starts with a short call about what you're building and what's keeping you up at night. From there, pick the shape that fits.

  1. Assessment

A fixed-scope look at your AWS account, codebase, or security posture. You get a prioritized list of findings and a plan to fix them.

  2. Build

We design and ship a defined piece of work: a new service, a device fleet backend, or a compliance-ready logging pipeline.

  3. Fractional lead

Ongoing senior engineering on retainer: architecture decisions, code review, roadmap, and help hiring your first engineers.

Why an owl?

Quiet, patient, and very hard to sneak past.

Strix is the genus of true owls: the barred owl, the tawny owl, the great grey. They hunt by paying attention, with a head that turns almost all the way around, near-silent flight, and hearing sharp enough to find prey under snow. Good security and infrastructure work runs the same way. Notice things early, and deal with them before they get loud.
